About me
Marianthi Leon is an Associate Professor and Associate Director (Head) of Civil Engineering at UWE Bristol, where she leads the Smart & Sustainable Infrastructures group and its portfolio of Programmes and Research.
Her work sits at the intersection of digital technology, automation and the built environment. She leads UWE’s contributions to different R&D projects and works closely with the Bristol Robotics Laboratory on construction robotics — a collaboration that has become one of the School’s distinctive strengths. She is also Entrepreneurial Lead on Augmented Artisan Technologies, an ICURe-supported venture working with the nuclear, defence and advanced manufacturing sectors on how automation can augment skilled expertise rather than displace it.
Marianthi, with the Civil Engineering Team, established one of the UK’s first Automation and Digital Innovation strands within a Civil Engineering curriculum, shaping how the next generation of engineers is prepared for a digitising industry.
