About me

I joined the University of the West of England in 2018 and am currently a Senior Lecturer in Law. I teach primarily in Criminal Law and the Law of Evidence, while also contributing to a range of core and interdisciplinary modules across the Law School.

Alongside my teaching, I have undertaken several leadership roles, including serving as Programme Leader across all three of the Law School’s undergraduate programmes: LLB (Hons) Law, BA (Hons) Law and Business, and BA (Hons) Law and Criminology. These roles have involved programme development, curriculum enhancement, quality assurance and initiatives to support student success. Most recently, I jointly led the redevelopment of the BA (Hons) Law and Criminology programme and have also acted as an External Adviser on programme design and development.

I currently serve as Outreach and Widening Participation Lead for the Law School, where I am developing engagement opportunities for local schools and colleges. I was also recently elected as the Teaching Staff Representative for the College of Business and Law on UWE Bristol’s Academic Board, where I contribute to university-level academic governance.

I have a strong interest in curriculum innovation, assessment and feedback, and the student experience, and have received recognition for my work in these areas. I have supported colleagues’ professional development through mentoring and educational leadership within the Law School and across the wider University. I am also developing pedagogic research examining students’ experiences of pass/fail assessment within an interdisciplinary transition curriculum.

My research interests lie at the intersection of criminal law, sports law, policing and socio-legal studies. My work examines football regulation, public order, criminalisation, policing practice and integrity in sport. I have published research on match-fixing and corruption in football and am developing a programme of research exploring the governance of football supporters, alcohol regulation, and the relationship between criminal law and public order policing.
