About me

I am a long-standing academic and expert in AI-search and machine-learning (ML), progressively conducting interdisciplinary research with various application areas including wireless communication and production management. This aligns my research with the priorities of many institutions and enables me to collaborate with colleagues from my school and across the college/university. In-order-to conduct internationally recognised research, attract more external funds, and to contribute my growing research profile, I have established and continue to expand both national and international collaborations.

I have published 130+ articles to-date, supervised 5-PhD projects to completion (2-more continues), participated in all REF submissions, won research bids (including 2-PhD grants prior-to joining UWE, 1 more PhD grant, and 3-KTP projects following joining UWE), supervised 4-postdoc visiting researchers. In addition, I‘ve been invited to join EPSRC review college, editorial board of international journals, conduct guest editorials for journal’s featured issues. I was awarded as “senior-member” by both IEEE and ACM and am fellow of Higher Education Academy.

I keep working to produce more publications and impact cases for forthcoming REF and extend my effort to further build my research team researching on theory and application of ML and AI-based solutions for industrial problems with a particular focus on multi-agent reinforcement learning, and teams of autonomous vehicles. I have already started collaboration with colleagues in this regard, and in contact with national and international collaborators.

I joined CSCT department at the end of January 2015 as Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. Prior to this post, I have worked in academic and research positions for various universities including University of Bedfordshire, London South Bank University and University of Aberdeen.

Area of expertise

My research interests include machine learning, particularly reinforcement learning, wired/wireless network planning and optimization, combinatorial optimization, parallel and distributed metaheuristics, evolutionary computation and intelligent agents and multi agent systems. My Google Citation
