About me
My current role as Visiting Professor and Consultant enables me to contribute to a number of helathcare research and development projects.
Area of expertise
I originally qualified as a Radiographer, and went on to specialise in Medical Ultrasound. I worked for many years in clinical practice before moving into education, and more recently as AHP Head of Department.
I am a member of the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE), a role which involves advising and approving UK Ultrasound programmes to confirm they meet minimum standards for training the sonography workforce.
I am a Registrant Assessor of overseas applicants for the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). This involves reviewing the applications to determine their suitability for the role of an Allied Health Professional.
I have worked closely with imaging equipment manufacturers such as developers of Ultrasound simulators. This work has helped to design and create simulators to train healthcare professional and assess their competence and abilities.
I have undertaken several projects for Health Education England investigating AHP Leadership, and for NHS England looking at the development of sonography extended practice to accelerate patient care.
