About me

I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Space) and a Master of Arts by Higher Degree Research (HDR) in Political Science. Prior to my role at UWE, I worked as a mechanical and structural engineer for twelve years. I achieved Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status through the Royal Insitute of Naval Architects (RINA) and the UK Council in 2013. Prior to academia, I worked in engineering consultancy for twelve years and was a Principal Structural Engineer working in the energy sector, including renewable energy projects. I have worked on global projects in multicultural, multidisciplinary environments across Australia, the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan.

Area of expertise

Having degrees in both engineering and social sciences, I aim to widen perspectives in engineering education in regards to political and social barriers to sustainability. The environmental degradation at the foundation of anthropogenic climate change is the result of the actions and behaviours of human society. Inequality and injustice are embedded in the social systems that govern decision-making about the direction of human development and must be surmounted before environmental progress and true sustainable development can be achieved.
