About me

Publications: Link to UWE Repository

Biographical Note: Ian has been involved with the Centre for Transport and Society (CTS) at UWE since 2007, working on a range of projects over that time. Most have related to three key themes, older people and transport, rural transport issues and technology and transport– often in conjunction, and always with a consideration of the wider sustainability context. Current projects include Flourish, investigating the potential role of autonomous vehicles for older people, Capri, exploring the use of driverless 'pods' in campus-style environments, Replicate an EU-funded study looking at mobility, energy and emissions in inner-city areas, and Modle which has piloted a new approach to delivering demand-led transport services in Bristol over the last two years.

Area of expertise

·     Sustainability, and sustainable communities - particularly the positive and negative impacts of transport in attempting to achieve them.

·     The ageing population and transport.
·     The role of new technologies in transport.
·     Rural transport issues - including addressing 'exclusion'.
