About me

Publications: Link to UWE Repository
Biographical Note: Ian has been involved with the Centre for Transport and Society (CTS) at UWE since 2007, working on a range of projects over that time. Most have related to three key themes, older people and transport, rural transport issues and technology and transport– often in conjunction, and always with a consideration of the wider sustainability context. Current projects include a major EU-funded review of evidence relating to sustainable mobility measures, alongside the 'Venturer' autonomous vehicle public-acceptance study taking place in Bristol. Although not directly researching older people and their mobility at present, this remains a key theme for Ian, and it is hoped to renew engagement in this area in 2015, with several opportunities being actively pursued. The role that older people’s mobility plays in their wellbeing and in the sustainability of their communities is though a key element of the PhD that he is currently progressing (on a part-time basis).
