About me

Abby's research focuses on theoretical development of aversive bodily symptoms, principally pain, and how this informs clinical practice. She approaches this from an embodied perspective, applying an active inference framework that considers the influence of body-world interactions on experience.

Using models of restricted interaction, such as in arm fracture or in amputation, Abby investigates the relationship between perception and action and the emergent experiences of the body. Most recently, this has involved working with the NHS in the provision of prosthetics to children and adolescents.

Abby is passionate about understanding the impact that our environment has on the experiences of our bodies, in health and illness.
