About me
Senior Lecturer in Children & Young People's Nursing
Co-Programme Lead - Practice
I am a registered Children's Nurse where most of my clinical career to date has been in Children's Emergency Care. I have particular skills in trauma management, respiratory illness, minor injuries and illnesses, rapid assessment and resuscitation. During my career, I worked as a Staff Nurse, a Senior Staff Nurse then the Sister of the Children's Emergency Department in Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
I also spent 2 years working as a Clinical Research Nurse for the Women and Children's Research team in UHBW, where I predominantly facilitated several research studies within the Emergency Department and the wider Children's Hospital. I also took the opportunity to second to the Faculty of Children's Nurse Education to work on the Trainee Nursing Associate Project.
I transitioned from clinical practice to higher education in September 2023, where I began working for the Children and Young People's Nursing team for the School of Health and Social Wellbeing. To date I have taught across all year groups within the undergraduate BSc(hons) Children and Young People's Nursing degree, as well as some postgraduate teaching on CPD modules. I am module leading a practice module currently, and co-programme lead (practice facing) for the BSc(hons) Children and Young People's Nursing degree.
I have continuing interests in Emergency Care, Trauma Management, Research and Nursing Pedagogy. I am due to complete my Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in 2024.
