About me

Dr Amak Mahmoodian

My academic roles are;

- MA Photography
- BA (Hons) Photography
- PhD, supervisor and examiner
- Coordinator - Photography Reserch Group

My work questions notions of identity and home, bridging a space between personal and political. Through my practice I  explore the effects of exile and distance on memory, dreams and daily life.

In 2015, I completed a practice-based doctorate in photography at the University of South Wales, having previously studied at the Art University of Tehran. Working with images, poems, archives, videios and sound, I look  for the lyrical realities frames in the photographs.
I have shown my work extensivley at a wide range of conferences and events, nationally and internationally and won numerous awards.
