About me
I have a wealth of experience teaching international students. I am dedicated to helping students and staff in ways which support the particular challenges that many international students face studying here. I have undertaken research to help better understand the international student journey (see Coryat and Edge, 2022; Coryat, 2024). I've also conducted research into international students perceptions and understanding of mental health and neurodiversity, including specific learning differences.
I have a keen interest in creating an environment conducive to learning, particularly through 'fun'. I gave a talk at IATEFL 2021 entitled 'The importance of fun in the EAP classroom', and this is summarised in the IATEFL 2021 Virtual Conference Conference Selections book. I also presented 'The importance of fun in the classroom' at the 2022 UWE Festival of Learning.
