About me

A Chartered Architect, Educator and Associate Director at UWE.  My focus is on professional practice, apprenticeships, and architectural studio.  As an architect with an intensive interest on how we design through making and traditional drawing skills - I bring extensive practical experience from working with existing buildings, schools, theatres, and housing schemes; to help the next generation to tackle the conundrums facing our industry whether issues linked to climate challenge or life safety into our everyday design activity.

Andrew has been a member of the RIBA since he was an architectural student at the Portsmouth School of Architecture, where he qualified in 2004. He has worked with the RIBA Education department since 1999, initially as a student member of the validation panel. Since qualifying he has continued to visit schools of architecture in the UK and abroad as an architect member of this peer review process. In 2005 Andrew joined the ARB as a lead examiner for the assessment examinations and for the last fourteen years as a committee member of the RIBA NCG Committee. Andrew has continued as a committee member of the Bristol and Bath Branch since leading the branch as Chair in 2013-14.

Andrew has accrued eleven years of professional practice working for the Angus Meek Partnership, AWW, Barlow Henley Architects and Richard Pedlar Architects. Projects include new build office schemes, numerous residential projects, a Special Educational Needs Primary school and a Performing Arts Theatre. For the past few years this has lead to conservation-based projects such as converting a Comedy Club into a Mosque, private residential work and converting a disused hospital into a nursery school.
