About me
As a member of the Digital Fabrication and Physical Fabrication teams, based at the City Campus Bower Ashton, we specialise in providing professional services to students and colleagues in different areas. My specialisms are:
Digital Fabrication
Additive Filament (FDM) Printing Technology, Additive Resin Printing Technology, Subtractive CNC Milling Technology, Subtractive CNC Spindle Technology, Professional 3D Metrology Scanning Technologies, Photogrammetry-Based 3D Model Construction Technologies, 3D Printing Model Finishing Techniques (including Airbrush finishing, sanding and polishing, adhesion skills and post-processing skills).
Physical Fabrication
Working with Materials - Metals, Plastics, Woods. Engineering Tool Handling, Sheet Metal Working, Cold Metal Forming Techniques (Forming), Hot Metal Forming Techniques (Forging), Hot Metal Brazing and Soldering, MIG Welding, TIG Welding, Plasma Cutting, Spot (Induction) Welding, Hot Metal Casting in Aluminium, Pewter, Low-Temp Alloy, Machinery-Based Manufacturing (Drilling, Cutting, Forming, Shearing, Shaping, Folding), Plastic Material Forming Techniques (Vacuum-Forming, Line-Bending, PVA HF Frequency Welding, Powder-Coating and Styrene Shaping), Basic and Developing Skills in Modelmaking and Modelforming.
I have worked at Bower Ashton in Orthographic Drawing for Interior Design.
I am a former Trainer in the Design And Technology Association's Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme.
I have completed the UWE Learning and Teaching Fellowship programme.
I have worked for the Minstry of Defence, working on sensitive communications modules for the Class 45 Destroyer programme.
I have worked for Hewlett Packard as a line technician for optical and tape systems.
I have worked as a multi-lab Science Technician in a challenging inner-city school in Middlesbrough (the youngest Science Technician, in fact at 17).
Apprenticed at ICI PLC (now, a conglomeration of chemical companies) in Process, Electrical, Mechnical and Instrumentation systems.
A statement on what matters to me;
'Don't crush other people's dreams and creative efforts - it might be the only thing keeping them tethered to this world'.
