About me
Dr. Cameron Steer is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), specialising in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience (UX), and Physical Computing. His research focuses on developing novel interaction techniques using tangible user interfaces, shape-changing technologies, and non-rigid surfaces, with applications aimed at enhancing and diversifying how we interact with creative technology.
Cameron earned his PhD from Swansea University, where his thesis explored augmenting digital art and design technologies with tangible interfaces. Following his doctorate, he was a Research Associate at the University of Bath, contributing to the European Research Council’s FORCE-UI project.
In September 2023, he joined UWE Bristol as a Lecturer in Computer Science. He is an active member of the Expressive Computer Interactions research theme within the Computer Science Research Centre.
