About me
I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Registered Clinical Supervisor, and a Senior Psychologist Specialising in Psychotherapy with the BPS. I work as a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the BPS. I have been working as a counselling psychologist for over 20 years, and I am also a BAMBA registered Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy teacher, a certified Mindful Eating-Conscious Living teacher and a trained Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reproccessing therapist.
I have been a part of the programme team delivering the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of the West of England Bristol since 2010, with input into our BPS accredited BSc Psychology programme. I have module leader and doctoral research supervisor experience, as well as experience coordinating training placements for counsellors and counselling psychologists.
I am actively engaged in research within the Centre for Appearance Research and the Psychological Sciences Research Group, including the PSRG special interest group on Delivering and Researching the Arts for Well-being.
I am a co-director of the Bristol Health Partners Eating Disorders Health Integration Team, where I work closely with people with lived experience of eating disorders as well as academics, clinicians, commissioners and third sector colleagues to develop strong collaborative links within and beyond academia. The team organises regular research conferences and public engagement events, and works to attract external funding, lead on patient-driven research projects, and contribute to service development and prevention initiatives.
I am the lead investigator on an ICB funded project, focusing on improving primary care services for people with eating disorders from under-served groups.
In 2022, I achieved the status of Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. My teaching is guided by the literature on contemplative pedagogies. I seek to integrate experiential practices into all learning episodes, drawing from creative or reflective writing or meditation, to provide a deeper experience for all students.
I seek to be an ally in all that she does, including pursuing a lifelong learning journey regarding her own biases and privileges. She works to provide anti-racist and anti-oppressive teaching and psychotherapy, and welcomes enquiries from anyone seeking to co-create a safe enough space to explore their identity or experiences of discrimination.
