About me
Clare is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture Technology and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At UWE, she is co-Programme Leader for the BEng Architecture and Environmental Engineering programme.
Clare joined UWE in a permanent role in January 2018, and teaches across both architecture and construction-related programmes.
She previously completed her RIBA Part 3 qualification at UWE in 2011 and subsequently registered with the Architects Registration Board, becoming a UK qualified architect.
Alongside her early teaching role as an Associate Lecturer at UWE, Clare gained extensive professional experience in architectural practice. She worked as a Project Architect within a traditional Bristol-based practice, delivering a range of residential and commercial projects, including some interesting listed building projects and those situated within Conservation Areas or the Green Belt. Clare later worked within a collaborative Design and Build practice, where she focused on delivering high-quality, 'buildable' residential and commercial projects.
In October 2025, Clare began a Doctor of Education (EdD) within UWE’s School of Education and Childhood. Her research explores fairness and consistency in assessment within creative, portfolio-based disciplines, where anonymous marking is not possible. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing equitable assessment practices and enhancing teaching and learning in higher education.
