Area of expertise
I am Programme Lead for the Professional Development Awards. These awards are bespoke and are University wide. These awards:
1. Enable use of existing credit and experience
2. Facilitate a bespoke, flexible approach to gaining credit for an award
3. Require a work-based approach and capture work-based activity and learning
4. Are open to all
I lead on our Evidencing Work Based Learning modules. These are designed to capture and facilitate work-based projects that are centred around service/quality improvement and evaluation, leading to real-life learning and workplace impact. Many of our learners have gone on to disseminate their project work through conference and publication.
Much of my work in these roles involve cooperation and collaboration with external stakeholders such as North Bristol Trust, Sirona, and Macmillan Cancer Support for example. These partnerships require the ability and knowledge to work in an agile, responsive way and this is underpinned by extensive experience in HE.
I have a clinical background in HIV/AIDS, Palliative and end of life care, and have led on this provision previously at UWE and elsewhere. I also have held honorary contracts to continue my practice in these fields as part of my scholarly activities.
I have extensive experience in partnership working both nationally and internationally having established and managed Erasmus in HSC. This supported many students over many years, to gain invaluable experience in practice and studies in Europe. I maintain my networks with HE providers across Europe. I have also been involved in scoping and proposing partnership with HE providers worldwide. This is an area I continue to develop interest in, especially in relation to professional regulation, pedagogy, and partnership.
