About me
I have over 10 years of experience working in primary school environments in various roles including Teaching Assistant, Specialist Behaviour Support, Key Stage 2 Teacher and Key Stage 2 English Lead. As a teacher, my main areas of interest were curriculum innovation and subject development and teaching practice in English.
As a lecturer, my main areas of interest and expertise are related to Primary English, and I have a particular passion for children's literature and supporting the development of reading for pleasure in schools.
I also currently have doctoral research funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and am completing a PhD in Education at the University of Exeter. My current research interest focuses on the teaching of writing in primary schools and specifically how teachers can model their own thought processes during whole class modelled writing and how this influences children's writing.
