About me

Duncan McPhee is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of the West of England and was appointed to the role following positions at the University of Glamorgan (now USW) and the Home Office. He is currently the acting Associate Head of Department for criminology.

Duncan's research interests are primarily focused around sexual violence, and in particular, police investigations of domestic and sexual violence.  He is currently engaged in the evaluation of offender-focused approaches to police investigation. Previous funded projects have included: An evaluation of specialist investigative reponses to rape and attempted rape cases (British Academy/Leverhulme), and an ESRC funded project on Gender Based Violence alongside researchers from Bristol and Cardiff University - 'Justice Inequality and Gender Based Violence'. 

Duncan also retains an active interest in comparative and transnational criminology and terrorism and leads third year modules on both at UWE, as well as leading Introduction to Criminal Justice.
