About me
Emma Noble has a background in Psychology, Sociology and Criminology and joined UWE Bristol in January 2025. Prior to this she worked as an associate lecturer at the University of Worcester in the school of psychology and as a FE/HE lecturer in further education colleges and universities in England and Wales, teaching across the disciplines of sociology, criminology, psychology and health and social care. Emma’s doctoral thesis explored how young people in Further Education (FE) in South-East Wales understand and experience tech-facilitated relationship abusive behaviours within their romantic relationships and at what level are they perceived to be problematic. It also explored how young people want to be educated and supported in this area by FE staff, alongside how FE lecturing staff perceive their role in terms of such provision and what their understandings and experiences of online relationship abuse in the context of young people’s romantic relationships are.
Area of expertise
Emma’s research predominantly falls into the areas of gender, sexualities, gender-based violence and education. She is a qualitative researcher and predominantly uses discourse analysis and thematic analysis in her research.
