About me
After completing my PhD in plant microbiology. I decided to change career paths and trained as a primary school teacher. I taught for 15 years across all year groups in primary schools in the north of England, Somerset and Bristol areas, specialising in maths and science. In 2012, I joined UWE as a Senior Lecturer in STEM education in the Department of Education and Childhood. Currently I combine this role along with leading the MA Education programme.
Area of expertise
Having a background in primary education with a specialism in STEM I now teach on the Initial Teacher Education Programmes with a focus on primary maths. Alongside this, I supervise Masters, Ed.D. and Ph.D. students doing their own educational research. My own research draws on mixed methods to explore STEM education at all levels. Currently I am working on a sustainable schools project in cooperation with primary schools in the Bristol area.
