About me

I am a Research Fellow on the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project, Gender Equalities at Work: An Interdisciplinary History of 50 Years of Legislation. This cross-institutional project, between the University of Edinburgh, University College London and UWE, examines the creation, trajectories and lived experiences of the Equal Pay Act 1970, Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and Equality Act 2010. I specialise in feminist labour history in twentieth-century Britain and am currently researching trade union campaigns for equal pay. My previous research examined the relationship between women workers and trade unions in the British film and television industries from 1933 to 2017, published in Women's Activism Behind the Screens: Trade Unions and Gender Inequality in the British Film and Television Industries (Bristol University Press 2021).
