About me
I work as a Performer, Maker, Facilitator and Lecturer in Theatre.
My background is as an actor/maker in screen & self-produced movement-centric devised theatre with my company, PINCH.
PINCH toured nationally and was supported by Bristol old Vic and The Place, London.
At UWE;
- I Module Lead on 'Introduction to Physical Theatre' at Level 1.
- I tutor on 'Introduction to Actor Training', 'Devising Physical Theatre' at L2 and on L3 Devising Project, ('Final year Project').
Independantly at UWE I seek out collaborations between disciplines and departments and usually make a short piece with graduating students every year that respond to these.
Most recently, in July 2023, i co-created a collborative piece (Still Life) between Drama and Fine Art Students in the development of a Performance, Exhibition and Sound Score sharing at The Arnolfini.
Within my teaching I am partly inspired by Growtowski's ensemble tradition and work with my students in finding honesty, vulnerability and freedom in their work. I seek to empower students in their creativity, expression and most importantly, their play.
I teach across all three years on the BA and often work with students several times throughout their degrees, allowing for a depth to the working relationship that benefits both the students and the work.
I also work with the Careers Department and support students in their career decisions and Post Graduate pathways.
Area of expertise
I specialise in movement and devising and have a particular interest in working from an inter-disciplinary perspective with regards to form and content, and incorporating text and sound into the work.
