About me
I received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from the Universities of Nottingham, Strathclyde and Plymouth respectively. I worked as an electrical engineer at Wye Electronics Ltd, Chesterfield, UK and I have held the posts of Research Officer, Postdoctoral, Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at various Universities in the UK. I am currently Reader in Electrical Power and Energy and leader of the Power Systems, Electronics and Control Research Laboratory in the Department of Engineering Design and Mathematics at UWE. I have over 30 years of involvement in academic life with experience of research, departmental teaching, and administration in UK Universities. I was Chairman of the European Electromagnetic User Group (2004-2010) and I have served as an advisor on numerous Electrical Power Engineering Journals. I am an Editorial board member of many International Journals, and have acted as guest editor for the International journal of Modeling, Identification and Control. I regularly contribute to international activities through the International Power Engineering conference organization and committee. I chaired and organized two IEEE sponsored international Conferences at UWE, in 2001 (EEUG: The European Electromagnetic User Group) and 2004 (UPEC2004: International Universities Power Engineering). My extensive research interests have spanned several areas including Power Systems Analysis, Power System modeling, Power Electronics, Lightning transients Analysis, Electric Arc Modeling, Fault Locations, Power Quality and Electrical Technology. Applications have been in the traditional power industry, and Renewable Power industry. Over the years, my research have been funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the European Union, the Royal Society, the British Council, KTP and the Power Industry. I am the author of over 300 refereed technical publications and contributor to the "Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering- Volume 3" (John Wiley & Sons Inc, 1999) and "Engineering Superconductivity" (Wiley Inter-Science Press, 2001). In 2004 I have received the IEEE PES Chapter outstanding Engineer award in recognition of my service in Power Engineering Research and to the UKRI Chapter. |
