About me

Having worked at the University of the West of England, formally Bristol Polytechnic, since 1989 I have considerable experience in HE Administration.

I have specialised in postgraduate research administration for approximately 25 years at UWE with breaks in-between whilst I took on other roles.  I have held PGR admin posts in two faculties before moving to a central role in 1996.  I have been in post as PGR Assessment Manager for 8 years.  I am located in the Graduate School in room 3E37.

Area of expertise

My area of expertise is postgraduate research students' final assessments (PGR Assessment Manager).  My responsibilities include managing the Final Assessment phase for postgraduate research students (PhD, MPhil, DPhil, Prof Docs) including being team leader for the assessment team.  I'm also the lead member of Graduate School staff for PGR Appeals and Complaints.  My role includes developing procedures for each process to ensure the Academic Regulations (PGR) are upheld.  A constant review of the Academic Regulations is undertaken with regulatory changes being the responsibility of my job-share partner, Ms Brigid Hewett.  I provide expert advice for the University for all aspects of the PGR assessments and its processes.  I am the Officer to the University's Research Degrees Award Board who have overall responsibility for PGR Assessments, including awarding MPhils, PhDs, DPhils and Professional Doctorates.  I am also responsible for the day to day process and development of the University's student record system, specifically for PGR students.
