About me

I am a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Critical Psychology and the module leader for the Constructing Gender in Society module. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and conduct research in qualitative and critical psychology. My theoretical background draws on discourse analysis, feminist, intersectional and critical theories and psychoanalysis.

I have developed a number of research projects that critically examine the intersections of gender, race, class and age and mental health. Some of the research projects include: social imaginary of drug use and gender; immigration and mental health in the UK and Brazil; older trans women and access to health services in Brazil; young people, social media and mental health in Spain. I have published a number of articles and book chapters and presented papers in a variety of academic and non-academic forums. I am the author of the books:

Cultural Ecstasies: drugs, gender and social imaginary (Routledge, 2013)

Mental health and Otherness: intersections of gender, race, class and age (Routledge, 2025).
