About me

I am a Mathematics Lecturer at Department of Computer Science and Creative Technologies, UWE, Bristol, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK, and a member of the Mathematics and Statistics Research Group (MSRG) at UWE, Bristol.

I also serve as the Champion of UWE's in-house algorithmic e-Assessment System (Dewis). I assist academic staff at UWE and our partner colleges in delivering effective formative and summative e-Assessments through various pedagogical approaches using the Dewis.

My research focuses on promoting and enhancing the student learning experience in Mathematics. I have developed some features in Dewis to diagnose and remediate Mathematical Common Students Errors (CSEs) in e-Assessments questions.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, a master’s degree in mathematics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and a PhD from UWE Bristol.  Before joining UWE Bristol, I held academic positions at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, Lancaster University, UK, the British Council, Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

I am actively involved in the Research Agenda for eAsessment of Undergraduate Mathematics' contributing to the development of a shared research agenda by collaborating with mathematics education researchers and university teachers.

I was privileged to contribute to the London Mathematical Society’s Equality and Diversity Success Stories Project. This initiative, designed to underscore the importance of diversity in the field, highlights a broad spectrum of individuals and their notable achievements in mathematics.
