About me
I teach and research in a range of areas within the field of education and have a particular interest in multilingualism and learning. I teach on the undergraduate programmes BA (Hons) Early Childhood (in Bristol and at SHAPE in Hong Kong) and BA (Hons) Education. I supervise doctoral students and jointly lead the UWE EdD programme. Current research interests include children's perspectives on being multilingual, researching multilingually and integrating the arts into learning for multilingual learners. I jointly lead the Children, Childhood and Young People strand of the Education and Childhood Research Group (https://www.uwe.ac.uk/research/centres-and-groups/education-childhood-research). I am a committee member of the British Association for Applied Linguistics Special Interest Group on Research Involving Children (https://richsig.wordpress.com/)
I am currently working with Vera Braga Fernandes on a project funded by the British Association for Applied Linguistics, from their Applying Linguistics Fund (2026-7) exploring bringing linguistic diversity into UWE's Raise the Bar initiative.
