About me
Jane is an economist and social scientist working at UWE, Bristol as a public health academic. She is Professor of Public Health Economics and Director of the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing.
Area of expertise
Jane specialises in multidisciplinary public health. She was on the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit and Public Health Research Funding Boards 2011-2020 and has authored over 150 journal papers, books, reports and articles. Jane was co-editor of the textbook ‘public health for the 21st century: new perspectives on policy, participation and practice’ Open University Press and has also coauthored chapters on Health Needs Assessment for two editions of the Oxford Textbook of Global Public Health.
Jane is currently Director of the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing, a Centre of Excellence for teaching and learning, postgraduate studies and research with impact at UWE. She led UWE's submission to Unit of Assessment 20, Social Work and Social Policy in the Research Excellence Framework 2021. Jane teaches on programmes in the population health community of practice in the School of Health and Social Wellbeing at UWE where the public health programmes are accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).
