Jo Stringer – Senior Law Lecturer - Module lead for civil advocacy; civil litigation (BTC) ; LLM in Dispute Resolution (SQE)
Jo is a solicitor (non-practising) with many years' experience of commercial litigation with the city firm of Herbert Smith (spending time in both their London and Hong Kong offices). She specialised in international banking and general commercial litigation. She teaches civil litigation and evidence and civil advocacy on the Bar course and is subject lead for civil litigation. Jo also leads the LLM Dispute Resolution Module on the Solicitors Course and provides training for trainee solicitors.
Jo is an accredited NITA and ATC advocacy trainer and a qualified commercial civil mediator with the ADR Group. She is responsible for managing and coordinating the Accredited Commercial Mediator Scheme offered to the Bar students. Jo is also the link with the Support Through Courts Unit at the civil and family courts in Bristol (formerly the PSU unit) which offers additional pro bono opportunities for students.
In April 2018, Jo was also appointed as Assistant Chief Examiner (Civil) at the Bar Standards Board.
