About me

Dr Joe Walsh is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and a member of the Psychological Sciences Research Group (PSRG). Joe completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Hull, before completing an MSc in Health Psychology and PhD at the University of Bath. Joe is also a member of the BPS Division of Health Psychology.


Joe's primary research interests are focused on pain, social perception, and cognition. His research includes projects which have examined how we communicate pain through nonverbal channels, the effect of pain on attentional processes, and how broader cognitive effects, such as ASMR, influence the pain experience. 

In terms of teaching, the majority of Joe's teaching focus has been on research methods and design modules, although he also has expertise in Health Psychology, Developmental Psychology. and Cognitive Psychology.
