About me

I am Associate Director in Education in the School of Education and Childhood. Before joining UWE, I worked as a primary school teacher and senior leader in schools.

I am an early career researcher, having completed my doctoral studies in 2021. My doctoral research focused on the professional identity formation of pre-service teachers on a post graduate route to QTS qualification. My research interests focus on aspects of professional identity formation, social and emotional learning and issues of equity and inclusion.  Current research includes a collaborative study with colleagues in South Africa that focuses on the development of a teacher education programme to support the teaching of reading; an exploration of the experiences of students from minoritised groups on teacher education programmes; an exploration of the impact of the reaccreditation process on teacher education providers and a scoping project that looks at the development of social and emotional learning skills in pre-service teachers.

I am a senior fellow of the HEA and am on the EDI team in the School of Education and Childhood. I am a member of the UWE Education and Childhood Research Group (ECRG), a member of the UCET management committee and hold the post of Chair of Governor at a Welsh medium primary school in South Wales.
