About me

I am a Registered Associate Nutritionist (AfN) specialising in infant and maternal nutrition. My ESRC funded research project is exploring parent's information needs when transitioning from milk to solid foods. My interests are in the psychosocial aspects of nutrition and infant feeding and the effect of culture and social context. I am also interested in the phenomenon of 'mummy guilt' and the concept of shame in health care settings in regards to infant feeding choice.

I have practical experience of providing classes for complementary feeding in the private and third sector and I have worked with vulnerable and low-income mothers providing nutrition advice and support.

I graduated with a first-class degree in nutrition from Bournemouth university and have an MRes in Health and Wellbeing with distinction from the University of Bristol. My project is funded through the South West Doctoral Training Partnership (SWDTP) and I have supervision across UWE and the University of Bristol from Dr Sally Dowling (DOS), Dr Toity Deave and Dr Patricia Lucas (UoB).

Area of expertise

Human nutrition, nutrition throughout the life span, infant and maternal nutrition, interdisciplinary research.
