About me

Kerry joined UWE as a Research Fellow at the Centre of Appearance Research after being awarded a Career Development Fellowship by the VTCT Foundation. Kerry is currently leading a project exploring family planning and decision making for people with a visible difference which can be inherited. The aim of this project is to understand the factors which influence decisions around having children and what support would be helpful. 

Background
Kerry has a background in Psychology and her PhD focused on mindfulness based interventions for people experiencing social anxiety associated with skin conditions. She has held Post Doc positions which involved evaluating interventions, including peer support, for people with a visible difference. Kerry has supported a number of charities working with people with a visible difference and worked for Alopecia UK for 4 years developing resources to support people with the psychological impact of hair loss. 
Kerry spent 10 years working in the NHS with the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service using CBT based interventions to support people with anxiety, depression and long term health conditions.
