About me
Laura Clarke is a Master Printer, Instructor and Traditional Print Specialist. Laura joined the Centre for Print Research as part of Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund in November 2019, as Research Technician in Print Technologies following a previous position at City and Guilds of London Art School where she was Tutor of Traditional Print for a decade.
During her time at CFPR Laura has established and organised a Traditional Print Workshop in Frenchay, conducted seminars for MA Print students, taken part in the IMPACT Print Conference and has been an integral part of CFPR Editions and the Artist in Residence Scheme, collaborating and producing limited editioned prints with over 14 artists. She has also worked on research projects for industry and conservation, and runs CPD courses and workshops with students and the public.
Laura Clarke graduated from the Royal College of Art, London in 2010 with Distinction in MA Fine Art Printmaking, receiving the Alf Dunn Prize and Augustus Martin Prize for excellence. She has been exhibiting widely since 2008 in a range of independent shows, larger prestigious exhibitions and film festivals. She was appointed Research Fellow and Tutor in Print at City and Guilds of London Art School and Fellow of the Royal Academy Schools, London in 2011. Her work explores the human body through the transgressive relationship between animal and human forms. She works predominantly with Intaglio Printmaking methods, but also uses sculpture and film in her work.
