About me

I am a teaching and research focused Lecturer in Psychology, who specialises in teaching Qualitative Research Methods at MSc level and above. I also supervise undergraduate, masters, and professional doctorate research projects.  I am a member of the Psychological Sciences Research Group and organise UWE Discourse Data Sessions.

My research specialism is conversation analysis and healthcare communication. I am currently exploring culturally competent risk communication in womens health, specifically around HPV and cervical screening. I completed my PhD at Plymouth University, examining how multidisciplinary teams in the NHS collaborate in Intellectual (Learning) Disability Services and manage risk. Post-doc, I moved to the University of Oxford to work on a number of projects examining doctor-patient interactions when risk related to sensitive topics (e.g. living with obesity) is raised. I work with a number of collaborators and stakeholders across different institutions, investigating different areas of risk communication, the practice of research and I am passionate about patient and public engagement and involvement.
