About me
I am the Senior Learning Technologist for UWE Bristol Library, Careers and Inclusivity, helping develop digital teaching and learning practice across the department and University.
As co-leader of our digital capabilities programme, I design and run sessions that address a wide range of topics including digital creativity and problem-solving; the effects of artificial intelligence on education; fake news and media literacy; digital wellbeing and collaboration.
A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), my teaching has included distance courses in virtual environments, with a particular focus on immersive non-directed storytelling; simulations and role-play; and narrative design (both linear and non-linear) in education.
I am interested in new and effective methods of assessment and have been involved with a wide range of projects that help staff and students in flexible learning.
My current research focuses on student engagement and collaborative learning - including the use of social media, mobile learning, and game-based education. Through exploring applications of big, small and tiny data, I hope to develop responses to the ethical and moral challenges posed by AI, mass learning data collection and sector-wide commercial pressure.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss anything regarding technology and learning innovation.
