About me
Maryam has worked on the development and commercialisation of ground-breaking technological innovations such as:
. The Design optimisation and analysis of the successful metallic Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) now commercialised through the university spin-out company Levistor, benefitor of a £545,000 grant from the UK Office for Zero Emission Vehicles in partnership with Innovate UK.
. The design optimisation of the electromagnetic Stove for Cooking, Refrigeration and Electricity (SCORE) as part of a GBP 2 million consortium with Practical Action and the University of Nottingham
. The development and testing of a suction toothbrush for Dysphagia with Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2011.
In her Action Research PhD, Maryam developed a new theoretical framework that comprehensively defines the concept of Technology and a proposed model for assessing effectiveness of Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange. a framework tested with the innovative PeePower technology. She carries out research consultancy assignments, liaising with industry partners to implement recommendations for effective technology transfer. She has overseen Bristol Bioenergy Center's technology transfer activities in Uganda, Kenya and South Africa, then made strategic recommendations for best practices for effective knowledge transfer.
Maryam also pioneered the integration of sustainability within the School of Engineering through a thorough curriculum mapping exercise and the implementation Project-Based Learning (PBL). She has since been invited to share lessons learnt at national conferences and through journal publications.
