About me

I am a Senior Lecturer in Policing within the Department of Health and Social Sciences, teaching on the PCDA program. I am a multidisciplinary researcher with an interest in the emergence of technological innovation within contemporary civil societies. I have carried out ethnographic research on the opportunities and risks associated with drone proliferation in terms of crime control. More recently, I have started to explore the emergence of 'smart cities' in international comparison and sustainability.

Prior to joining UWE I was a UK ESRC-funded PhD student at Cardiff University (currently in the writing up stages of my thesis).

Area of expertise

I am currently involved with/leading third year modules on the PCDA program.

My main areas of teaching experience include: qualitative research methodologies; research design and management; problem solving in policing; offending, victimisation and imprisonment.

My research interests include: civil drone technology; the intersection of civil technological innovation and security; 'smart cities'; sustainability; and policing.
