About me
My professional background is in teaching adults, teaching international students and in web technology. My current role as Senior Learning Technologist in FET's Learning Innovation Unit (LIU) brings these areas of interest together.
Before working for UWE I taught university foundation courses for international students in the UK. I found that asking students to use technology (particularly social web technologies like blogs and wikis) helped to broaden and deepen their learning and helped keep students actively engaged in the subject matter.
I am interested in online and distance education as well as mobile learning and the use of simulation and social technologies.
I have a BA in Geography, an MA in International Relations (Sussex); a Postgraduate Certificate in Online and Distance Education (PgCert ODE) from the Open University, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (CTEFLA). I am a UWE Associate Teaching & Learning Fellow and a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT).
Area of expertise
Supporting and enhancing teaching and learning through the use of technology.
