About me
Ronke Eyitayo is an accomplished educator and researcher, who continues to leave a mark on the landscape of digital literacy and education. She has meticulously studied the digital literacy levels of students across various disciplines, uncovering insights that inform pedagogy and curriculum design. This insight cuts across various levels from primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and various university levels. The textbooks she authored have been integral to Nigerian primary and secondary schools since 1995. These textbooks that have been commended by independent accessors for their readability and high Teacher's Perception Rating (TPR) continue to empower generations of young learners, fostering a love for knowledge and critical thinking. At the university level, Ronke has carried out digital literacy research that continues to revolutionise how we engage with information science as well as help to shape students' critical thinking skills.
She is very passionate about teaching and learning. This is evidenced by her unwavering dedication to teaching and nurturing the minds of her students, and the many positive student reviews that she receives. Her dedication and commitment to teaching is further exemplified by how she creates a vibrant and interactive classroom environment where the concepts of modules she teaches such as project management, strategy, and governance come alive through the relatable teaching means that she adopts in her classroom. Her passion for these subjects is infectious, inspiring students to probe and think critically. Her commitment extends beyond the lecture hall; she is a mentor to both her colleagues and students. She invests in her students' success, guiding them through complex projects with a blend of rigor, encouragement and care.
Ronke Eyitayo holds a B.Sc. Hons (Computer Science) and master's in information science (M.Info.Sc.) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also earned a Post Graduate Diploma (Management) from University of Southern Queensland, Australia and a PhD (Library and Information Studies) from the University of Botswana. Her core specialisation lies in Information Science where she did her master's and doctoral work. This allows her to leverage her computing knowledge to conduct research and develop solutions around bridging the interdisciplinary gap between technological systems and user interactions
With interdisciplinary qualifications spanning computer science, information science, management and library studies, Ronke has a broad foundation to understand various facets of information management in business and technology. Her diverse international education also equips her with a multicultural perspective regarding information management across different institutional contexts. Her current gaze is toward Generative AI—a transformative force that aligns with her passion for literacy.
