About me

Dr Rosamund Portus is a lecturer and Programme Lead in Environment and Sustainability. She is an environmental social scientist, with a background in Social Anthropology. Research projects (past and present) include 'Challenging the Climate Crisis: Children’s Agency to Tackle Policy Underpinned by Learning for Transformation', 'Nature Deficit Disorder in the Pandemic: Parental Perspectives through Multiple Crises', 'Reading for the Climate' and 'Buzzing about Bees'. Rosamund is part of the Centre for Environment, Society and Resilience.

Area of expertise

Dr Rosamund Portus is an environmental social scientist, with a background in Social Anthropology. Her research focuses on examining the social and cultural dimensions of environmental challenges, and she has a keen interest in nature connection. Her PhD (graduated 2021) examined how the decline of bees has been imagined and represented across the creative and cultural sectors. She has worked on projects examining areas such as the role of young people in facilitating environmental action, child-nature connections, and climate literature. She is a currently lecturer and Programme Leader of the Environment and Sustainability (formerly Environmental Management) undergraduate dergree. Rosamund is part of the Centre for Environment, Society and Resilience.
