About me
Hello,
My name is Rui Roberts (nee Dai). I started teaching since 2012 when I was doing my PhD in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bristol and continued teaching at the University of Bristol after I graduated from my PhD in 2016.
I joined UWE in May 2017. I have been joint module leader for Fundamentals of Accounting 2 (2017-2019), Introduction to Management Accounting, Introduction to Managerial Finance, and Financial Aspects for Marketing, Events, and Tourism.
I have been Programme Leader since 2020 and currently Programme Leader for Accounting, Finance, and Management programmes (level 4/year1).
My research interest is in Management Accounting and Management Control Systems, especially in the public sector. In particular, I am interested in Costing, Budgeting, and Beyond Budgeting. To date I have used a qualitative methodology, using interviews and also quantitative surveys as the main research methods.
My PhD research was on financial systems in UK universities, especially resource allocations and budgets. Organisational structure, culture, and financial information systems are also investigated because they are believed to have impacts on resource allocations and budgets. My future research plans involve extending my PhD research and is open to collaborations on other research topics.
