About me

Dr Sam Parker is a critical social psychologist and joined UWE Bristol in November 2023. Prior to this he worked as Lecturer in Psychology and Course Leader at Birmingham City Univerisity and before this in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University where he also completed his PhD in 2018. His thesis looked at the ways in which refugees and asylum seekers in Wales discursively constructed accounts of integration. Sam also holds an MSc in Psychological Research Methods and Diploma in Psychology (Conversion for Postgraduates) from the Open University.

At UWE Sam teaches Social Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods across a number of different modules. Sam is the co-Module Leader for the first year Introduction to Psychology module. 


Area of expertise

Sam’s research interests fall mainly within the areas of discursive psychology, forced migration and sexuality


Sam is a member of the Social Sciences Research Group and the Psychological Sciences Research Group.
