About me

My background in Ecological Economics has led me to work on varied issues - from reforming decision-making tools and economic indicators to integrate socio-ecological values, to exploring water management systems (modern vs traditional) in North Africa, developing environmental governance platforms using ICTs and exploring how urban agriculture could act as a catalyst to make urban environments more sustainable. I have canalised my interest in participatory approaches towards working on soft systems and design thinking approaches, both in research and through pedagogical processes. I am currently working as a senior lecturer in education for sustainable development at UWE, and leading the online short course entitled 'Climate Education' and the module 'Sustainable Development: Principles and Practice'. The issues I am curently focusing on in my research activities include sustainability skills, designing experiential learning experiences for our students using urban agriculture (through the use of UWE's community gardens) as a case study to explore food security and sustainable cities based on UWE's living labs, and how perspectives on climate change and sustainability affect actions and policies. I am a core member of the Research Centre CESR (Centre for Environment Society and Resilience) at SAE UWE.
