About me
Scott is a Senior Lecturer in UWE's Law School, with a focus on professional practice skills, including the Law Clinic.
Scott's primary scholarly interest relates to pedagogy, in particular how constructive alignment and authentic assessment can help students develop professional skills alongside legal knowledge. Scott piloted and rolled out the new 'Student Lawyer' strand of the LLB programme, and is now heavily involved in delivery of the new Foundation Year programme for Business and Law.
Scott is an "early adopter" of technology, and is especially keen to explore digital assessment opportunities. Scott is also interested in how law and practice (especially dispute resolution) can accomodate emerging technologies, including the growth of Generative AI, as well as psychological and sociological implications.
Background: After studying the GDL and LPC at UWE, Scottt spent over ten years in legal practice, in commercial litigation and dispute resolution (advising clients in a number of industry sectors). He obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in 2017. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and an Accredited Civil/Commercial Mediator.
