About me
I am a Senior Lecturer in Building Services Engineering Management for the Faculty of Environment and Technology (FET) at the University of the West of England. I work within the department of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE).
I have had many roles spanning over 20 years. My career started in Information Technology and entered into the world of construction and now lecture in the field of building services engineering and design. In the IT arena I have had roles as a network engineer, special projects manager and technical architect. I was responsible for designing and delivering a robust network for the customer. I have extensive Cisco networking knowledge and a Cisco trained. With my special project and technical architect role I took briefs from a client and designed systems to meet the client requirements. Examples for my work include the design and management of the UWE data cabling infrastructure and introducing Pharos printing system to UWE.
In the Construction arena, roles I have had include being an Intelligent Buildings Services design engineer, a Contracts manager, Technical team manager, Electrical team manager and Commercial manager. My knowledge in the construction world include designing life safety systems (fire and security), electrical systems management (emergency lighting, lifts), Facilities Management (Hard FM), FM Mobilisation, FM services procurement, asbestos management and contractor management.
UWE have gone through a massive growth in terms of the real estate and with the growth comes an expansion of building services. I have been lucky enough to be involved with 100% of UWEs construction projects from 2006 to 2019.
