About me
I am a Senior Lecturer in Building Services Engineering Management at the College of Arts, Technology, and Environment – School of Architecture and Environment.
With a career spanning over 27 years, I have held diverse roles across both the Information Technology and Construction sectors. My professional journey began in IT, where I worked as a Network Engineer, Special Projects Manager, and Technical Architect. In these roles, I was responsible for designing and delivering robust network solutions for clients, leveraging my extensive Cisco networking expertise as a Cisco-trained professional. As a Technical Architect, I specialised in translating client briefs into tailored system designs.
Transitioning into the construction industry, I have held positions such as Intelligent Building Services Design Engineer, Contracts Manager, Technical Team Manager, Electrical Team Manager, and Commercial Manager. My expertise encompasses life safety systems (fire and security), electrical systems management, Facilities Management (Hard FM), FM Mobilisation, FM services procurement, asbestos management, and contract management.
I currently co-lead two programmes: BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering and MSc Façade Engineering. Additionally, I serve as a Link Tutor for the BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering programme in partnership with SHAPE (Hong Kong) and as an External Examiner for Coventry University’s Building Services Engineering programme.
In recognition of my contributions to teaching excellence, I was recently awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award – CATE 2024
