About me

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Psychology in 1987 and MSc in Sociology in 1990, Dr Jones completed his PhD in Expert Systems at Cardiff University in 1994.

His background includes researching in a number of different areas (including those of personal computing technologies, learning technologies, memory, intelligence and personality), being based at a number of institutions over the years, including universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and the Open University.

He has also undertaken teaching and research sabbaticals at Charles University, Prague and at the Czech Technical University, Prague. Additionally, his background also including periods working in both the private sector (with an occupational psychology consultancy) and the public sector (as a research consultant and data analyst for a Local Education Authority).

He currently teaches primarily in the areas of research methods and statistics, with research interests ranging from the psychology of humour and the interplay between intelligence and personality to the psychological aspects of technology adoption.

Dr Jones is a chartered scientist, chartered psychologist, associate fellow of the British Psychological Society and fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a member of the register of qualified test users in psychometrics, as a Test User (Occupational, Ability), Test User (Occupational, Personality) and also fully trained in the administration and interpretation of a number of specialised instruments including Identity and the Morrisby Profile.
