About me

My main professional interest is ways transport systems can help cities become carbon-neutral, liveable, and inclusive, while preserving and restoring biodiversity. The challenge is real, and I take it from the angle of the decision support to get there - identifying the unmet needs, the potentials for change, and best ways to leverage them. Within my PhD, I examined walkability and provided practical insights into prioritisation of the retrofit of urban environments.

I see transport planning and research as going hand in hand with good land use planning, urban design, and public health. Since 2004 I have been working on solutions encouraging modal shift and delivering better outcomes. My roles involved decision support on different levels, namely policy, master-plans development, and local assessment and retrofit. I was lucky to be involved in exceptional projects in Switzerland, Argentina and New Zealand. Working on a PhD thesis was on the other hand an exceptional opportunity to take a step back and gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underpinning the complexity of urban systems and human decisions.
