About me
Dr Tim Clark is Director of Research and Enterprise for the School of Education and Childhood, where he provides support, coordination and strategic leadership for a growing community of researchers across the school. He is passionate about researcher development, practitioner research, arts-based and narrative methodologies, and research with children and young people.
Tim’s primary research focus is on doctoral education, including the experiences and motivations of students undertaking professional doctorate study. He has recently undertaken work exploring students' methodological decision-making, approaches to academic writing, experiences of progression assessment and engagement with arts-based research approaches. Alongside this, he has an interest (and professional background) in early childhood education and is currently leading work which aims to explore examples of effective partnership working between artist practitioners and formal education settings. He is also co-editor of two recent edited collections Critical Perspectives on Educational Policies and Professional Identities and Debating Childhoods.
Tim has experience of successfully leading commissioned projects for partners including the Department for Education, Bristol City Council, West of England Music and Arts, and Octagon Theatre. He is a member of the Bristol Educational Research Association (BERA) Conference and Events Committee, a co-lead for the Children, Childhood and Young People strand of the UWE Education and Childhood Research Group and Editor of the Early Childhood Studies Degree Network (ECSDN) Student Journal.
Tim can be contacted in his capacity as Director of Research and Enterprise with any enquiries about education and childhood research at UWE, including potential collaborations, commissions, opportunities or doctoral supervision.
