About me

I am Director of Research and Enterprise for the School of Education and Childhood. My role involves supporting, championing and coordinating research and enterprise activities within the school.

My own research focuses on aspects of doctoral pedagogy, doctoral student experience and researcher development, particularly in relation to academic writing and methodological decision making. My doctoral research used a narrative methodology to explore doctoral students' perceptions of their developing methodological understanding/identities (recent paper). My current research (2022-24) includes a focus on the pedagogical role of doctoral progression assessment (internal/faculty funded), a project exploring the experiences of EdD students who engage with creative research practices (Project Information) and a collaborative project funded looking at the contributions and experiences of early childhood graduates (Funded by ECSDN). I am also currently co-editing a text, alongside Professors Richard Waller and Jane Andrews, which will feature a collection of chapters from UWE doctoral students which explore aspects of Educational Policy and Professional Identity.

I am co-lead for the Children, Childhood and Young People strand of the UWE Education and Childhood Research Group (ECRG Page), a member of the Early Childhood Studies Degree Network Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy Group and part of the Management Committee for the Bristol 'ECHO' Early Education UK branch.
