About me
I am a Senior Lecturer in Education and Childhood and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). My qualifications include a Doctorate in Education, Post Graduate Certificate in Academic and Professional Practice, Early Years Teacher Status and BA (Hons) Early Years Education.
Prior to my appointment at UWE in 2019, I spent 20 years working in the early education sector in the UK, including 12 years as Head of Early Education for a successful charity in Bristol.
In my current role I am involved in teaching and supervision across a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at UWE, with a particular focus on research with children and leadership and professional skills in education. I currently lead modules related to these areas on the BA (Hons) Early Childhood and BA (Hons) Education programmes. I am also involved in teaching and supervision on the MA Education and Ed.D programmes.
My own doctoral research used a narrative methodology to explore doctoral students' perceptions of their developing methodological understanding/identities. My current research (2022-23) aims to explore the pedagogical potential of doctoral oral examination progress reviews (internal/faculty funded).
